I am delighted to introduce the Hastings Academies Trust, which is led by the University of Brighton. The University of Brighton holds close to its heart one of the founding values of higher education: to do something profound for the future of our university’s communities.
With five campuses in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings, we provide higher education to over 21,000 students. Our School of Education has been educating teachers for more than 100 years, and has an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating for its early years, primary and secondary initial teacher training.
Beginning in 2008, our commitment to improving educational opportunities by supporting academies has led us to take the role of lead sponsor in the Hastings Academies Trust. Building on these successes, the University of Brighton Academies Trust was established in 2015. Both trusts have the aim of transforming teaching and learning for the mutual benefit of pupils, academies and their staff, and local communities. We want to share our knowledge, support and challenge Sussex schools to be the best they can be.
